Haisan Williams spent 23 years incarcerated in the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. During and after that experience, he continued his education, ultimately earning a bachelor's degree and an MBA along with professional credentials in several fields. He is now a criminal-justice reform advocate and the author of New Correctional Theory, or NCT—a framework for replacing incarceration for some people with intensive, individualized community-based corrections.

Dr. Aubri McDonald is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. She holds a Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Illinois Chicago. Her research includes community-based learning and the ways institutions and media frame criminal trials and social movements.
